Gail Dufresne has been hooking for nearly 20 years. She writes for Rug Hooking Magazine and the ATHA newsletter, and is on the editorial boards of both. Her rugs have been featured in Celebrations VII, VIII, IX, XII and XIII (and her "Sunflowers," a Jane Flynn design, went on to win Celebrations VII).  And she is currently the ATHA National Vice President.

She’s a McGowan certified instructor, and has been teaching at camps and private workshops around the world for the past 8 years.

Here’s how she describes her work:

“I began as predominantly a fine hooker. I love detail, but I also love wide cuts and geometric designs…. I love to use unusual materials, such as boucle, angora, chenille, glitter glue and all sorts of ribbon. A few years back, I started to add the technique of proddy to my work — and I never looked back. I now rarely hook anything that is not three-dimensional in some way.”
